When to Replace:  In general, windows have a lifespan of 15 – 20 years. As windows age, their ability to retain heat in the winter diminishes. If they’re drafty, they probably need to be replaced. If they no longer travel freely in their track, replacement is probably your best option. The same applies if they no longer stay in the “up” position. A cracked window is also prime for replacement, even if it’s relatively new. Do your windows form condensation on the inside? If so, your windows are likely leaking air from the inside and should be replaced.
